Trespassing

Fall came upon us with a thud with the unexpected news that my Granddad had passed away suddenly. That was the last thing any of us, including Granddad, would ever have expected, and it sucked the very air from our lives. We spent October and November just trying to cope and regain our footing, wondering how life could turn so drastically in one fell swoop. But Granddad was a gigantic presence and he leaves a huge void for everyone.
We invited my parents and Gramboom to stay with us through Christmas, though Gram preferred to stay home with my Uncle and Aunt instead. So, out came my parents to share the holidays and get a little bit of recuperation time with us, away from the troubles of home. While they were here, I decided that I had to show them the "Rock House." We'd continued to watch the yard for signs that any activity was taking place. I wanted to know who owned it and what their intentions were. Without even the "invitation" of a Sale Pending sign near the mailbox, we trespassed up to the house so that we could show it to them.
It was winter and cold, and it looked a good bit more foreboding than it had under the hot June sun, but, nevertheless, it was still a lovely retreat. We wondered if we'd ever find out what it's fate would be, and, again, that old urging reignited in me - wishing we could somehow wrest it away from whoever had gotten to it before we had.
My parents returned to California, and a few days later, Brien decided to check Zillow to see if he could ascertain any information about the ownership of the house. To his great surprise, the house had been relisted the very DAY my parents had returned to California. Was it a sign?
The game was afoot once again! As predicted, the house had returned to me, so now it was up to me to take the next steps...
